UPTYRE Project: Unique Shredding Initiative
As part of the UPTYRE project, led by RecyBEM | Tire and Environment, Kargro Recycling has processed a container full of unused summer tires of one specific brand and type into granulate.
The tires were first cut into pieces, then further reduced in size and stripped of steel and textile. The rubber was ultimately processed into fine granules in two sizes. An intensive process, but essential to prepare the material for the next stage of research.
This granulate serves as a unique reference material for research into devulcanization: recycling techniques that break down sulfur bonds in rubber. This allows the material to become flexible and reusable for high-quality applications.
A promising step toward circular tire recycling!
